i just couldn't resist

i'm on temporary self imposed blog strike after reading an article in the chronicle sunday magazine where the quesiton was posed to Danah boyd: "Are bloggers judgmental?" and her answer was: "By and large, every blogger thinks everybody should be doing what they're doing." hmmm. . . .maybe she is on to something (you can read the full interview here. by telling you this in my blog, i think i have violated some rule. . . .

just got back from a nice little trip to hawaii - no internet access, hence no blog. . .ah, it was great!

like a catcher in the rye . . .

dropped ewa off at the aiport last night - she is now asleep in the grasp of the sweet kentucky air. while i would give anyting to be with her, i am happy to she is their, enjoying the same moments of repose i too would enjoy if i breathing that sweet bluegrass air.

tonight she had dinner with gene and the rest - she said she realized why i liked it so much, it is beautiful and they are like family, which they are. she'll get to see the new born deer, the fire flies gliding lazily through the air, and the flowers and trees abloom. i told someone once while lying out in the grass at night looking at the moon that jack kerouac suddenly made sense. it's the perfect combination of people, time, and space everytime i am there, now she gets to see it, and know, and understand, and love it like i do.

almost a week. . . .happy birthday to me. . .

i'm ashamed to say it has been almost a week since i have blogged. . . what a week it has been. . . .i've been doing the 8am to 8pm work thing, and it seems to have been rip on brendan week too. but, such is life. . .

i had a trip planned next week to go visit my uncle gene in kentucky with ewa - i had been talking about this trip for about 4 months now, and yesterday my boss 'unapproved' my vacation. . .i'm not going to get into specifics, but needless to say i am pretty pissed off about. gene is one of the most important people in my life, and going out the farm to visit him is one of the things i enjoy most in life. on top of that, i couldn't wait for ewa and gene to meet. . . they still will - only i won't be there. . . .ewa is still going - she is in a wedding in nashville that weekend (only a few hours from gene in kentucky), so she is going to spend a few days with gene - she will love it. . . i hope to get many drunk calls from the two of them. . .

on top of it all, today is my birthday - i am the ripe old age of 28 today - i plan to celebrate by getting blindly drunk tonight. . . is there any other way?? this is also ewa's last day of work at her old job, and kicks off 3 weeks of vacation for her in between jobs . . .

ok, the stomach is rumbling and some of the work crew are taking me to lunch . . . until we meet again . ..
