ah poland

we arrived in warsaw yesterday, battered and worn, but none the worst for wear. . .non-stop flights from the west coast to europe are rough, but better than stopping in houston along the way.

ewa's mom met us, and we checked into our hotel, the bristol, one of the oldest and grandest in warsaw. . .so far is has not dissapointed. we then headed over to ewa's mom's house (affectionately reffered to as 'mamma' from here on) for dinner. she made zyrech (a sourdough soup with big chunks of sausage and hard boiled egg - its my fav) and perogi. she bought some 'american' beer, special for me, and it turned out to be malt liquor. . .we survived. i was fading at this point, so we bussed it back to downtown warsaw, took a nice walk on the 'kings walk' (wheather is incredible), and settled in the room where ewa called everyone she knew is warsaw, i called a few folks in the states (using a swedish application which will not be named), and settled down with drinks in hand, her with some white wine, and me with sone 12 year old single malt i picked up on our layover in amsterdam, and proceeded to watch Scooby-do dubbed in polish. . .it doesn't get much better than that!

today will be busy with grandpa (85 and coming from hawaii), mom, dad, gene, gary, sister, etc, all arriving throughout the day. . . i am exicted to show them what little about warsaw i do know. . .
