that one month

there is about a total of one month throughout the entire year in san francisco when the weather is 'knock your socks off, gimme a beer, cuz it's hot and i don't own shorts and i'm sitting in my boxers' good - this was one of those weekends. it happened to coincide wit the clocks going back to 'standard' time, so it was touted by all of us as the last great weekend of the season - of course it is now monday and it is still incredible out and promises to be so for the next few days - so what do i know?

as friday afternoon approached and i was leaving work to begin housesitting duties at the house on the hill, i felt the warm late afternoon hit my face, and knew i would be spending my weekend outside - preferably on the rooftop deck with a beer in one hand and a refreshing vodka drink in another. friday went according to plan - a few drinks and some dinner at the parents house with ewa and her roommate bridgette, followed by some late night hot tubbing with ewa, and the weekend was in full swing.

saturday morning of course came way to quickly and too early, and after i unsuccessfully tried to convince ewa that all the clocks in the house were set three hours ahead and that it was actually 5am and not 8am, we went for a bike ride to pac bell along the embarcadero and stopped off at the farmers market where we sat by the water and ate fresh french bread, goat cheese, and plums (anyone who likes fresh french bread, goat cheese, and plums, click here.). we headed back to the house on the hill, made a quick trip to costco, which is a story unto itself, and were back home and ready to bbq.

we started the grill around 3pm and grilled straight through until around 11pm. when ewa asked, 'are we going to be eating every two hours?!' and gary replied, 'what, do you want us to starve?", i knew it would be a good night. people came and went all night, including some of the indian posse - sanjog, the founding member, after a few cocktails, told her husband as he was making a refill that she wanted a gin with some vodka and not to much tonic. the night ended shortly after. . .

sunday was even warmer - ewa and i had breakfast with my young cousin and her friend at mama's, then cleaned and lazed around the house all day, before it was finally time for us to pack up and move out. . . i guess two days in paradise is ok. . .

the weekend ended with me taking ewa to the airport to catch her red-eye to new york, and me heading home knowing that something would be missing on monday that was there on sunday, and that something about the day just wont be the same. . . i was right. . .
